Xiaomi disrupted the phone market with the launch of the Mi 11X Pro smartphone having a hardware combination of premium phones available at an aggressive price. The phone comes with the top-of-the-line Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor and a 108-megapixel camera. The consumers mostly looking for a great camera phone this attracts then easily.

Build and design

The smartphone looks quite sleek if you can ignore the camera bump. At the back, the phone has a standard wrapped around with a plastic frame rather than metal. The glossy back has a gradient finish. Overall it looks identical to the Mi 11X, though has curved sides which make it comfortable to hold.

On both sides, back and front, Xiaomi has uses Corning Gorilla Glass 5 that makes it scratch proof at some extent. The polycarbonate body gives a solid feel, making it a light device – 196 grams. On the right side, it has a fingerprint scanner and volume buttons, easy to reach and operate.

The top and bottom, both are stereo speakers. At the bottom, you can find the SIM tray, USB Type C port and main speaker. The 11X Pro is rated IP53 dust and water-resistant, making it a durable device.

Display

Advertisment

Xiaomi included an AMOLED display on 11X Pro with 120Hz refresh rate. The 6.67-inch ultrawide AMOLED display sports a resolution of 1080x2400 pixels, with a pixel density of 400 PPI. Xiaomi claimed that the HDR10+ panel has a peak brightness of 1300 nits. We used the device in direct sunlight, thanks to high brightness levels, we didn’t find any issue in reading text or watching any video, overall a decent outdoor experience. The AMOLED display produces rich colours, watching videos I enjoyed watching different videos with punchy colours.

Camera

Mi 11X Pro comes with a triple camera system with a 108-megapixel primary camera with an f/1.75 aperture, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with an f/2.2 aperture and a 119-degree field of view, and a 5-megapixel “telemacro” camera with an f/2.4 aperture and 2X zoom. At the front, it has a 20 MP camera with an f/2.45 aperture that sits in a tiny hole on the display. Xiaomi kept the camera app unchanged, so it has all the similar features and modes.

Thanks to AI, the camera could detect any object easily. If you leave everything on AI, you can capture good quality images with it. If you know how to handle the camera, choose Pro mode. The camera captures details quite well though it could have better dynamic range. One more thing that troubles, the sharpens of photos in post-processing, causing some loss in quality in the shadows.

When capturing ultra-wide-angle photos, the quality isn’t the same yet it captures a quite wide field of view. Closeup shots are quite good, portraits also good. While taking shots in low-light conditions, the Mi 11X Pro does a good job and produces decent quality images. But the ultra-wide angle camera was disappointed with its details.

Mi 11X Pro lets you record video at 8K 30fps with the primary camera and 1080p 60fps with the selfie camera. The 8K video footage was really awesome with rich colours and details. The camera app has a dual-video feature that lets you shoot using the primary and the selfie cameras simultaneously.

The front selfie camera is also decent. It captures good quality shots in daylight. The beautification mode enhances the face and portrait mode is also good for decent quality selfies.

Performance

Having the top line of hardware, the smartphone runs quite smoothly. I was able to run almost every app and the game I downloaded on the phone without any visible performance lag. I played different games including Ashpalt 9, NFS no limits, Shadow Fight, Battle Ground India, etc. By default, it is set to Very High setting for graphics and the High preset for frame rate. I played these games one by one and then switch between these games, but there was no issue.

While using the device for day-to-day usage, it worked really well. I included different productivity apps such as MS Office and used them simultaneously, again no performance lag. The phone handled every app smoothly. The phone has two stereo speakers added on the top and bottom of the screen. these speakers are loud enough to enjoy music, watch videos and play games.

Battery life

The phone is backed by a 4520 mAh battery that powers the phone for entire day. In our video loop test, it managed to run for 14 hours and 42 minutes. It comes with a 33W quick charger that charges the phone to 64 per cent in 30 minutes and to 99 per cent in an hour.
