Acer’s new Aspire V3 laptop is designed for casual gamers. The laptop looks cool with its brushed metallic finish on the top of the body. It is packed with features, which enable you to use the device for both work and fun.

The clean and classy design

Acer Aspire V3 looks beautiful as it’s made of both plastic and metal with a brushed metal finish on the top. The laptop’s keyboard panel is covered with patterned aluminum and has a 15-inch 720p display with large bezels around it. Though, the display has a basic 1366×768 resolution, yet the screen has an astonishingly high brightness. It produces pretty good colors and has wide viewing angles. It is bright enough to enjoy games, movies etc. The bottom panel that curves up the sides is made of plastic. This is a compact sized notebook with an easily swivels lid up to a great extent.

It has a full-size keyboard and a smooth touchpad with the same aluminum finish as the rest of the laptop. The touchpad is relatively wide, measuring 4.1 inches across. Despite the compact design, Acer manages to include all important interfaces such as combo audio, USB 2.0 & 3.0, memory card reader, Kensington lock slot, Gigabit Ethernet and HDMI and VGA-out port. The notebook supports 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi standards with MIMO technology that is up to 2X faster, and Bluetooth 4.0 for connectivity and has a webcam that is decent for video chats.

A decent device for work and play

Acer Aspire V3-572G has 1.7 GHz Intel Core i3 processor, 8 GB DDR3 RAM, 2 GB Nvidia GeForce 840M GPU, 1 TB of hard drive and runs on Windows 8.1 OS. The combination makes it a decent device for both purpose work and play. You can enjoy playing graphic intensive games including Thief, Shadow of Mordor, etc. While testing the laptop we installed these games and played for a while. This laptop performed really well and there was no visible lag in the performance while playing Thief, but we found a little lag while playing Shadow of Mordor. Still, this device can handle such games easily. This laptop also performed well in our day-to-day work, while testing the laptop we opened 20 tabs in chrome, one MS-word file, and Photoshop. We were able to work on them simultaneously without any visible lag. This has two speakers, located on the bottom, which produce pretty average sound, but they are loud enough to enjoy movies and games.

It is equipped with FineTip keyboard and Acer’s Precision Touchpad with ACM (Accidental Contact Mitigation) technology. Using the keyboard, you will surely going to love this and its touchpad also works smoothly, enhancing your typing and touch experience.

The laptop is also equipped with Acer Crystal Eye HD webcam with Skype certification for video conferencing. This is equipped with decent mic which reduces the noise and delivers quite satisfactory experience. The webcam is good enough but attracts noise a little in indoor or low light conditions.

Thanks to its cooling system, we didn’t notice an extreme heating issue with it. In our benchmark testing, it scored well and resulted in P2291 on 3DMark and 2311 on PCMark. It was better in 3D mark but lower in PCMark in comparison with Acer Aspire E5 we reviewed earlier, but the cost is less than that.

The company claims that this laptop can run for 7 hours in one full charge and yes it really does during standard usage, browsing the internet, working on documents etc. In our battery test, it lasted for 4 hours 15 minutes when running Imtech Battery Mark 1.1 which uses 100% CPU, RAM, Display, etc.
