If you're looking for a monitor that delivers an exceptional gaming experience, the BenQ Mobiuz EX270QM could be an excellent option. This 27-inch IPS display boasts bold aesthetics and a range of features that reproduce true colors with solid saturation, natural hues, and clear contrasts. However, you may be wondering if the price is worth it. Let's explore the monitor's performance to help you decide.

BenQ Mobiuz EX270QM Gaming Monitor: Build & design

BenQ's design philosophy for the Mobiuz EX270QM is to create a simple, modern, and unique look. The monitor's front may seem unremarkable at first glance, with a similar appearance to other monitors. However, the wide and imposing stand, along with the textured bottom bezel, adds a premium touch. On the back, the thick neck of the stand, LED lighting, and faux-metal finish of the panel stand out from the crowd. The thick and sturdy stand does a great job of keeping the monitor stable, but it takes up quite a bit of space on the desk. This could be problematic for those with small desks.

The LED lights are customizable and can be controlled through the monitor, with nine color options and six mode options that pulse in different patterns. While the LEDs don't light up the space, they are noticeable in a moderately-lit room and perfect for a dark gaming den. All the ports are located below the stand receptacle, facing down toward the floor. There's a power port on the far left, two HDMI 2.1 ports, a single DisplayPort 1.4, a 3.5mm audio port, a square USB-B upstream hub port, and two USB-A 3.0 ports. Once you're all connected and set up, you can snap a panel onto the back to hide your connection cables.

Setting up the monitor took a few minutes only. There is no complicated configuration to make. Just assemble the stand, then connect the monitor to power and use HDMI or DisplayPort to connect the PC to the monitor. And the stand and hinge let you adjust the height, tilt, and swivel the monitor without any extra effort.

BenQ Mobiuz EX270QM Gaming Monitor: Features

BenQ Mobiuz supports three video connectivity with one DisplayPort 1.4 port and two HDMI 2.1 ports. This is useful for gamers who want to connect multiple sources, two PCs or one PC and console, for high-refresh gaming. The control buttons are placed at the bottom panel of the screen, which is easy to reach but they are placed a bit odd. As the power button and menu joystick are placed next to each other, you can accidentally touch the other button. But the good part is – the monitor comes with a remote control, which is unusual among monitors. The remote is a far better way to control a monitor. It’s intuitive and doesn’t require hunching over to find the monitor’s buttons.

At the default settings, the BenQ Mobiuz offers a good first impression. It’s bright, but not too bright, depending on your preferences, you can change the settings using the menu button placed beneath the screen, remote, or hotkey placed on the bottom grill beside HDRi. It offers a wide color gamut, which spans up to 98 percent of DCI-P3 and 90 percent of AdobeRGB. The wide gamut creates a hyper-saturated look that’s wonderful in games with a bright, colorful presentation.

Mobiuz provides a limited contrast ratio of 990:1. The IPS monitor suffers the elevated black levels common to this technology. You can notice this when playing games in a dark room with dark presentations. Scenes could appear a bit hazy. At the max resolution of 1440p, the monitor provides a pixel density of about 108 pixels per inch. It is a 240Hz monitor, which implies it’s meant for playing games at a high refresh rate. From that perspective, 1440p is an ideal resolution. The monitor offers a 240Hz refresh rate and a quoted gray-to-gray response time of one millisecond. The motion clarity is good at 120 frames per second and ok even at 60 frames per second. At lower framerates, motion clarity will be substandard.

PC gamers will love this monitor’s image quality, color reproduction, and other features. Games look bright, vivid, sharp, and can achieve high frame rates even on mid-range hardware. Whether you play games or perform professional tasks, this monitor is perfect for both. During the day-to-day performance, the monitor is good for casual use. It offers solid brightness, good text clarity, and a wide color gamut providing good results when browsing the web or viewing YouTube.

BenQ Mobiuz EX270QM Gaming Monitor: Audio

BenQ Mobiuz EX270QM comes with a pair of two-watt stereo speakers and a five-watt subwoofer. The combination delivers a strong, clear sound that, will make external speakers unnecessary.
