HP OfficeJet Pro 8730 AiO Printer Review: A Compact AiO Printer to Ease Your Daily Office Jobs

A compact AiO with combination of essential features

The new design is not completely out of the world, but HP understands what to keep where that can help to reduce the size still offers the best possible experience. The compact machine can easily fit into small space and takes only a few moments to setup. The touch screen also allows you to modify print and scan settings.

It comes with a touch screen having almost all the capability to let you operate the device easily even if it is not connected to any laptop or PC. You can print and scan directly via USB. Also, you can connect the AiO with your network to get printouts from any machine as well as share scanned files with one PC or entire workgroup. Using the internet connectivity you can directly print docs from anywhere in the world as it generates one unique email ID. Send your prints to the email and get it done.

It has built-in Wi-Fi to connect it to your network or create a hotspot that can be used by different devices to print wirelessly but it limits the range. While connected with internet you can do it from anywhere, but using the hotspot you can do it within the range. Also, NFC connectivity is available that enables you to connect any NFC enabled device with a touch only and take printing or scanning job done.

For mobile devices, HP JetAdvantage Capture app is available which lets you do almost everything, whether it is printing or scanning. Using the app you can also edit scanned files, as well as monitor and manage printing jobs.

Duplex printing and scanning

This network AiO can ease your daily printing and scanning job, as can scan multiple sheets as well as print both sides of pages in one go. It is capable of printing 1000 to 2000 pages a month with this device.

There are two trays for scanning job, the top tray holds the sheets of various sizes easily and once the scanning is done, sheets comes to the second tray. Meaning neither you need to feed the scanner for every single sheet, nor do you need to worry to catch the scanned pages. It manages everything automatically. To hold papers for printer, it has one tray at the bottom of the device just below the screen.

HP OfficeJet Pro 8730 AiO printer has security features for enterprises, you just have to enable pin printing on your device and your job while travelling is encrypted.

Excellent Print Quality

In our standard ISO test with 5% ink coverage, it printed 5 A4 pages in only 29 sec with first page out in 10 seconds. While testing the duplex printing, it printed 21 pages and missed 4 out of 25 in 1 minute and 50 seconds. In another single side printing it took about 1 minute 40 seconds to print 20 pages and missed 5 out of 25.

The test included text pages, graphics pages and pages with mixed content for both black and white and color. The output quality is excellent and text looked sharp and detailed. With graphics, colors are bright and well saturated. We did not find any significant issues in our tests and the output quality is superb for PowerPoint handouts or word documents going to clients or colleagues . The colors or black ink did not get smudged when brought in contact with water.

It copied 1 B/W page in 1 minute 37 seconds while the color took 1 minute 38 seconds. Output quality is good enough for any business use.

Scanning performance

It has a flatbed, ADF scanner, to test the scanning capabilities, we scanned mix of pages (includes images and texts). While scanning pages using PC it took only 13 seconds on 600 dpi for one image. We scanned 25 pages which took 2 min 42 seconds and while scanning 15 pages from both sides, it took only 2 minutes.
