iBall has announced two laptops in the budget category Excelance and Exemplaire. Where Excelance is an 11.6-inch laptop priced at 10k and Exemplaire is 14-inch laptop priced 14K. iball is targeting low-budget consumers with their offering, however, Micromax is already there with Lapbook. We got a chance to review the 11.6-inch Excelance which comes in royal blue color.
Looks good and has a wide keyboard
The laptop’s outer shell is made out of plastic, but the textured finish on the top gives it a cool look. With the basic design and structure, this is quite lightweight, less than 1.1 kg, and compact in size, enabling you to carry it anywhere easily. The 11.6-inch screen has large bezels around, which made the structure large, but this helps to combine wide keyboard in it.
The island-style keyboard has all the required keys offering full sized laptop’s keyboard experience. Various other keys have also been added with ‘Fn’ to make your typing experience pleasant. Though the keyboard is good, but sometimes it captures twice or thrice the impression, while typing in full swing. Relatively, the trackpad has a decent space and works smoothly.
Sharp HD screen and loud sound
The 11.6-inch (1366X768p) screen produces good colors. The brightness levels are also good, so you can use it outdoors. You can enjoy watching movies, as well as, can share the screen with your friends and family as it offers wide viewing angles. It has dual speakers which produce loud sound but at the high volume levels, speakers go exhausted. However, on the lower volumes, it produces decent sound, letting you enjoy movies and games.
Gesture control
The TouchPad has Multi-Touch functionality and shortcut gestures controls to play with the device easily like pinching in and stretching out your two fingers to zoom in and out your screen respectively or swiping the three fingers on touchpad away from you to see all the windows opened.
Decent Performance
iBall CompBook Excelance is equipped with Intel Quad-Core Processor and 2GB RAM clocked at the speed up to 1.83 GHz. It is packed with 32GB inbuilt storage, further expandable up to 64 GB via Micro SD card as well as you can connect external HDD for more storage space. The laptop runs smoothly without any performance lag, but only till then, when you are browsing the internet and working on apps like MS-office. It is capable to offers a pleasant experience, but its not meant for high-end computing tasks. We used the device for more than three weeks running various apps. In day-to-day usage, we didn't find any performance lag when running MS-Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Note, etc.) and two browsers with more than 4 tabs in each simultaneously.
Good battery life
The notebook has a 10,000 mAh Li-Polymer battery which lasts for more than 9 hours with moderate usage. In our video loop test, it lasted for 10 hours 45 minutes, playing video with full volume and brightness over wi-fi. In this price category, iBall delivered best battery performance as expected from this huge 10000 mAh battery. Though the battery life is good, but charging this could be a pain as it takes longer time to be fully charged about 4 hours, from zero to full.
