Work from home and online classes have become a norm nowadays, due to Covid-19 lockdown. Our screen time has increased a lot as almost everything is online, resulting in eye strain, headache, etc. LG’s new 29WN600 UltraWide monitor targets those pain points to reduce strain and other bad effects of increased screen time.

The ultrawide monitor

The 21:9 UltraWide screen give you 33 per cent more space compare to other FHD displays. This extra space let you manage two workspaces in one, for instance, you can keep your eyes on your video meeting plus make changes in the documents or do other things, just align them into half-screen spaces.

Full HD resolution (2560x1080) LG screen is perfect for students as well. They can join their online classes plus easily manage textbooks, lectures, conversations and searches in a single view. So no need to toggle between two different apps, keep it in a single view, Side-by-Side.

Features

The 29-inch ultrawide monitor looks pretty cool. The bezels of the screen are quite thin, the bottom bezel has branding and this one has some thickness for obvious reason. The bezels have a matte anti-glare coating to eliminate reflections.

The monitor holds two HDMI ports a single DisplayPort, a 3.5 mm headphones jack, and dual 7W integrated speakers. All the ports are at the back. You can easily access those ports and connect power to the monitor to begin your new gaming journey.

The display supports 5ms MPRT response time and a swift 75Hz refresh rate. The screen has Flicker-Safe technology to reduces invisible flickering on the screen and Reader Mode that provides a more comfortable working environment for your eyes.

LG monitor comes with AMD FreeSync technology that enhances the gaming experience by virtually eliminating screen tearing and stuttering.

Performance

Setting up the monitor took a few minutes only. There is no complicated configuration to make. Just assemble the stand, then connect the monitor to power and use HDMI or DisplayPort to connect the PC to the monitor.

For normal PC usage, the display is perfectly fine with vibrant colours, excellent brightness levels and wide viewing angles. Its resolution and image quality made it a pleasure to use day in day out.

To test its gaming ability, we played different games including Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Ghostrunner, Call of Duty Modern Warfare, etc. The screen was able to deliver an enjoyable experience. The colours were looking pretty good, dark scenes were also nice.

Having the IPS panel, the experience with the monitor was immersive. The screen was looking good most of the times, having a pretty good resolution. It was able to produce smooth images even in the most frantic of exchanges. It was able to do great with bright colours, but the dark shades and black colours were deep as well.

It holds two 7W Stereo Speakers with MaxxAudio that produces rich sound, you can enjoy music, movies and gaming as well. Overall, it is a decent monitor that offers a decent balance of speed and picture quality.
