LG was first on charts to bring curved OLED screen to home creating a new paradigm of display, shape and quality. The 55” panel sports FHD resolution delivering brilliant picture quality in an incredibly thin body.
Design and Features
The TV is stunner in terms of looks and appeal. The highlight is the thinness of the bezel surrounding the display measuring just 4.3mm. The gently curved screen provides equidistant viewing from all parts of screen to the eyes. The entire curved panel rests on a transparent Crystal Stand which is also curved, enhancing the curved form factor.
All input and output ports are housed at the back, including 4 HDMI ports, 3 USB ports etc. The OLED display uses an organic substance that glows when electric current is applied, thus works without requiring backlight and is thinner and lighter than LCD displays. The light passes through a combination of filters to produce spectacular high-definition images.
The TV comes only in 55” size. It also features an internal Colour Refiner that enhances colour reproduction across the entire image, making the picture more natural and pleasing to the eye. The six speakers are sculpted at Centre Bottom of the TV (3 Left Channel and 3 Right Channel) delivering 20W output.
Performance
The TV utilizes OLED 4 colour pixel technology to deliver eye-popping picture quality. It adds a white sub-pixel that modifies the conventional 3 colours (RGB) format and enhances both colour richness and accuracy. We tested LG Curved OLED TV with both SD and HD content movies and we were impressed by the picture quality. When we fed the TV with full HD content, it delivered wider colour gamut and amazing contrast. It is equipped with Resolution enhancer which up-scales content to Full HD like quality. Since the pixels control their own luminance utilizing OLED technology, it helps creating much more depth, thus images are lifelike, vivid and crisp.
The black levels are incredibly strong and well-defined. Also when viewed from sides, colors looked almost the same with only small diversion. The audio delivered from LG’s Clear Speakers is loud and clear with good bass response and matches the picture quality.
With Cinema 3D, you will experience the best in 3D also. The 3D popping out of screen is brighter, easy on eyes, clear and sharp. The glasses supplied are polarized (battery free), allowing for greater viewing and comfort. 2D to 3D conversion was also decent.
The TV is also equipped with MHL connectivity allowing you to watch all of your favourite movies, videos in HD, Full HD picture quality from your smart phone to your TV. Stop, rewind, pause and play all of your content using the TV’s remote control. The TV also features SmartShare, allowing you to access all of your music, videos and photos from your PC, laptop, tablet or smartphone directly to your TV.
The TV has both types of connectivity options including wired viz-MHL (Mobile High Definition Link), DLNA and wireless (Miracast, Wifi Direct, DLNA, NFC). The Multi-link feature allows you to divide the display into two halves sliding the current view on one side and filling the new display with YouTube or Web browser. The TV can also be commanded with voice and gesture controls.
