Yu Yureka Plus: The 2nd Gen Yureka Becomes More Attractive With a Rs 1,000 Price Cut

YU's another flagship smartphone Yureka Plus after the YU Yureka, which was launched in December but the phone is able to make the budget smartphone market hotter by its features, and pricing of Rs 8999. The handset now comes with a 1080p display and a superior camera at a price tag of Rs. 9,999 in July, but now the company reduced the price to Rs 8999 to compete with other smartphones in the similar price range like Xiaomi Redmi Note, Lenevo K3 Note and Lenevo A7000. Lets find out in the complete review of this smartphone.

Simple yet elegant design with vibrant display

Yureka Plus has the same design aspects as like Yureka. It is made of high quality plastic with matte finish, which catches smudges and finger print easily. The 5.5-inch display comes with thin bezel, but the display is glossy and is very prone to finger prints. It gets Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection on the top. It has volume rocker keys on left side and power button on the right side of the phone, an audio jack of 3.5mm is drilled on top edge and micro USB charging on the bottom. A chrome finished rim is casted on the edges which adds a premium looks to the phone. Like most other smartphones now-a-days, It also has the set of capacitive touch buttons designed below the display, these are having white backlight. It has speakers at the back. It has two micro SIM card slots and a microSD card slot under the back cover.

The YU Yureka Plus looks decent from design point of view and it fits perfectly in hand. The phone is not so slim as its competitor like Lenevo K3 NOTE, yet with slate design it looks slim. The smartphone eights about 155 grams, which is quite light.Bright and colorful display

Yureka Plus comes with a 5.5-inch display at a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels(~401PPI). The display produces bright with vibrant color output compared to Yureka (720p). Using the phone in direct sunlight doesn’t makes any big difference in visibility, and offers wide viewing angles.The bright and colourful display enables you to enjoy watching HD videos and even heavy graphics intensive games on it.

Better Camera

Yureka Plus has a 13 MP autofocus rear camera (Sony sensor) with LED flash and 5 MP front camera (with OmniVision 5648 sensor). The camera supports features like Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, panorama, HDR, face detection, You can select different modes of your choice from the settings and just swipe the screen to switch to different modes. It can record videos at 720p HD resolution.

Using the rear camera, daylight shots are good, the camera catches vibrant colors and every details, but the images are a bit noisy if it’s low light or night ambience. HDR shots are good (please explain). Flash lighting is adequate to brighten the low light condition, with flash light the images gets a bit noisy, but the quality is acceptable.

Hardware and Software performance

It is powered by 1.5 GHz Octa core processor from qualcomm snapdragon having 2 GB RAM (1893 MB usable) and 16 GB internal storage (usable 12.3 GB), it has a microSD card slot which can add 32 GB expandable option for you.

The new Yureka Plus runs on Cyanogen OS 12.0 based on Android 5.0.2 (Lollipop). Cyanogen OS comes as stock Android usability and experience with many extra features and customization option likes beautiful new themes, many Indian languages like Bengali, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil and Telugu. It also has Privacy Guard that lets you manage which apps can have access to your personal data.

While testing this phone in our Lab, we can conclude on various tests as –

1)Call connectivity: It supports 4G connectivity, which on calling has no issues like call drop, the voice of other side is loud even on noisy places like market or metros.

2)Casting it on various synthetic benchmark like antutu, quadrant, 3D mark and vellamo, it scores better than its competitors.

3)We played various games like Asphalt 8, Dead trigger 2 and relic run, the phone works great with graphics and sound quality as well.

Battery life

It has 2500 mAh removable battery same as in the YUREKA that is not enough even for a complete day with normal use with both SIM enabled .With heavy uses the battery drains quickly. In our battery test (playing HD video continuously through WiFi in full brightness and sound) YU Yureka Plus is able to gives a back up of 8 hours.
