The government called a meeting of handset producers and telecom service providers on Wednesday to enable a smooth switchover to the new technology. This created the news that prioritising software updates will allow India to adopt 5G early.

Airtel and Jio have gradually introduced their 5G services in essential metro areas but plans for Vodafone-5G Idea's deployment are not yet available. Over 100 million Indians have devices that are 5G ready and want to upgrade to a 5G subscription in 2023.

Conclusion

According to the report, Indian smartphone users are prepared to pay a premium of 45% for a plan that includes fresh experiences. This might be great news for Internet service providers getting ready for 5G.
