New Update

Apple had been touting its 12.2 inch tablet but it is Samsung which has managed to bring first-ever tablet in the said form factor, named Galaxy Note Pro. The company sees Note Pro as the gateway to convergence of a laptop and tablet but in reality the differences which need to be bridged between the two are far deeper than one can imagine. The tablet sports a 12.2 inch 2560x1600 pixels display that has been borrowed from the 10.1 Galaxy Note version. With a better PPI (247) than Surface 2 (208) and equally comparable to quality of the 9.7 incher iPad Air (267), Note Pro with its extra 2 inch bigger display makes for excellent viewing experience. It weighs the most in this segment at 750 grams where iPad Air (469) is the lightest, followed by Surface 2 (675 grams).

Built-wise Note Pro has the same Galaxy Note 10.1 aesthetic, complete with a chrome-colored accent, glossy black/white bezel and faux-leather back. Other than that you have physical home button, along with two capacitive buttons for navigation. A stylus port sits on the right side, along with a microSD Card reader for memory expansion and a USB 3.0 port for charging or connectivity. Packed with Exynos chipset and 3 GB RAM, the tablet comes with 64 GB expandable storage. The cameras deliver high detailed images and thanks to addition of flash, the rear becomes effective.

You can edit, create word documents on the pre-loaded Hancom Office client which performs well in fact the best on a tablet till date with PC-functional keyboard that has Cntrl-S and Cut-Paste options. Battery life on the tablet is quite impressive and came through our tests for more than 9 hours. The only concern pertaining to Note Pro is its handling and lack of app store support for the said resolution.
