Samsung recently launched its latest model in the Galaxy Tab line by the name Tab 750. The company totally revamped this tablet to give real competition to the iPad. The tablet looks stylish and attractive. Samsung has made this slate incredibly thin yet feature-rich and this will be amongst the first Honeycomb tablet to deviate from the pure Android 3.0 experience. Samsung calls it TouchWiz UX or TouchWiz 4.0 (which is a touch interface developed by Samsung Electronics with partners, featuring a full touch user interface). The tablet has a microSD slot, 3.5 mm headphone jack, and a SIM slot. It has a 3 MP camera, which includes LED flash, on the back and a 2 MP camera for video calling.

Challenging the leaders
So, is the Galaxy Tab a real threat to IPad2? Or how close does it come in terms of specs and performance. Samsung Tab 750 has a larger 10.1 inches PLS TFT capacitive touchscreen with 1280 x 800 pixels compared to iPad 2's 9.7 inches, LED-backlit IPS TFT, capacitive screen with 768 x 1024 pixels. iPad 2 has iOS 4 while Tab 750 has Tablet specific Android OS, v3.1 (Honeycomb). iPad 2 has a better 1.2 GHz Dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor, Apple A5 chipset but Tab 750 is not far behind with 1GHz dual-core Nvidia's Tegra 2 processor. Another major feature which you can't ignore is the inclusion of better quality cameras in the Galaxy Tab. While the iPad features a front camera with 0.3 megapixels and a rear camera with 0.7 megapixels, the Galaxy Tab has a 3 megapixel camera for the front and a 2 megapixel camera for the rear.
Performance
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 750 runs on a 1GHz dual-core NVIDIA Tegra-2 processor which is the same as LG Optimus Pad, Motorola Atrix and Asus EeePad Transformer. It has connectivity options like 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth and USB. At times the homescreen orientation stuttered while changing it from landscape to portrait. The Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity will help you transfer media at a much faster rate than USB 2.0. The tablet has a mini-HDMI port so you can hook it up to a larger display to watch high definition videos. The battery life is good with the 7000 mAh battery powering on the tab for almost 8-9 hours You have the option of choosing between 16 GB and 32 GB internal storage. The camera also performed well and is capable of capturing good images. This camera also lets you capture high-definition videos (in 720p) as well. A few apps bundled with the tablet include a document and spreadsheet editor. Social networking is very much there with apps like Twitter, Facebook, Gmail etc, which can be accessed on a single screen. We enjoyed reading e books, watching movies and music on this tab, with speakers installed on the both sides.
Bottomline: A sleek, elegant and lightweight tablet, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 gets as close to the iPad 2 as any other Android tablet.
