New Update

This is a tiny 7 kg well-designed desktop laser printer aimed at the SOHO and personal use market. The printer is compact enough to fit on any desktop. Getting the printer up and ready for action is also pretty easy. The USB interface makes the installation a snap, and a single button is all there is to handle on its control panel. Paper can be fed through its the 250-sheet tray or manually.

Coming to performance, the printer has an excellent print speed of 17 ppm, both rated as well as what we tested. The quality of text prints is very good, with readability right down to 2-point fonts at both 300 (draft) and 600 dpi (normal). Graphics printing is a bit of a disappointment. There was banding in the images, and line-art prints were choppy. Cost per page of the printer is economical, coming to Rs 1.20, and its cartridge price is also pretty low at Rs 3,300.

The printer also installs something called “Status Mon” to monitor the printer’s current operational status. There is a useful power-saving mode that is configurable from the printer’s property sheets.

Overall, this is a good printer for personal or home office use, given its zippy print speeds and text quality.
