Relyon Softech has come up with an accounting software, called Saral VAT, exclusively for VAT. It allows you to exchange accounting information with Tally 5.4/6.3 and TCS Ex VAT using its import and export modules. This version of Saral generates VAT-related forms for a few states only. We expect that the next version will have support for more states and for importing data from Tally VAT (see Tally with VAT, May 2005, PCQuest, page 99). A demonstrative example is also included to help the customers understand VAT better.

We created a sale and purchase transaction and found that the module had options for entering a lot of information about that. VAT rates are also pre-entered, which ma kes it very convenient. It also gives you detailed information about transactions such as opening balance, payments and their analyses. Plus, it lets you view information classified in a number of ways, such as date wise and item wise. The search option for the purchases and sales made is worth mentioning, as it classifies your VAT and non-VAT transactions. The reports module lets you generate reports either in Crystal or Excel formats. Apart from the reports module, report generation and print options are also included in most of the other modules. This enables you to instantly file a report and save time.

You can search the VAT opening balance either bill date wise or item wise for individual suppliers

Bottom Line: The software helps organizations take advantage of the new VAT structure. You need to ensure that support is there for the state you deal with.
