New Update

Since the inception of Right To Education (RTE) Act in 2009, the expectations

from state school education has grown manifold. The government of MP faced a big

challenge of achieving the objectives of quality education and proactive

governance through RTE Act, which required managing 1.25L schools across MP.

Also, the Act required the state to ensure compulsory admission, attendance and

completion of elementary education by all children from 6-14 years (nearly 1.60

crore), and ensuring a pupil-teacher ratio as per the norms. Timely payments of

their salaries was also priority. However, there was no integrated system to

facilitate efficient management, coordination and synchronization of various

activities of state-wide administrative units under multiple education

departments.

The State Education Portal of MP (www. educationportal.mp.gov.in) was the answer

to these problems. It has been rolled out across 50 districts of MP covering

over 1.15 Lakh govt. schools in more than 90,000 remote habitations. It includes

a well-integrated suite of e-Gov apps facilitating a single source of authentic,

live information for all stakeholders and departments/agencies. The portal has

automated, streamlined and re-engineered various processes and functions

involved in governance of the schools.
