e-Security Through Digital Signatures Usage, about to Take off in India

Digital signatures are fast becoming mainstream. With increasing growth of online banking and e-Governance, adoption of PKI technology and Digital Signature Certificate is rapidly growing in India over the past few years. Millions of digital signature certificates are being issued across Asian countries including China, Taiwan, Korea, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Thailand and India.

In the month of September, (n)Code Solutions alone have issued 52,000 Digital Signature Certificates and more than 2,00,000 certificates in last 12 months. More than 300,000 entities have filed income tax returns this year online using Digital Signature.

The spurt in the usage of digital signatures in variety of e-Governance and e-Commerce applications in India and elsewhere is all set to take PKI in next level. In this respect, PKI Forum, which consists of Indian Certifying Authorities and Controller of Certifying Authorities, and affiliated to Asia PKI Consortium, is hosting Asia PKI International Symposium 2010 for the first time during 28th and 29th October 2010 at Hotel 'The Lalit', New Delhi. APKI symposium will focus on exchanging information on the research in this field, applications being used by different countries and best practices followed by Asia/Oceania Region on a common platform.
