New Update

Surprisingly, the top choice in this category turned out to be Win NT again, even though the product is no longer commercially available. That’s why the next choice, Win 2000, becomes the winner. Ever since this category was introduced in 1997, Microsoft products have had a stronghold on it. Unix has made an entry into the User’s Choice club this year at number two, and Novell NetWare slips to number 3. Good quality matters most to people who voted in this category. Linux fever seems to be fading away, as it hasn’t even been able to enter the club for two years now. The latest news is the beta release of UnitedLinux, which as the name suggests is a joint effort of four key Linux companies, namely Caldera, Connectiva, SuSe, and Turbo Linux. It would be interesting to see whether this joint effort really makes waves by next year.
