A GUI configuration tool as shown in the figure will pop up. Click on the ‘New’ icon. For Name and Aliases enter any name say ‘pcq’ for the Queue Name. If you want to give alias names to the printer click on ‘Add’. When prompted for an ‘Alias’, enter any alias name say ‘pcquest’. You can have more than one alias name for a printer. You will need to fill in the ‘Queue Name’ or the alias name for applications, which ask for the printer name like the KDE Advanced Editor. Next click on ‘Queue Type’ and from the drop down list of ‘Queue Type’ select ‘Unix Printer (lpd Queue)’. Enter the IP address of the network printer. Then click on the ‘Printer Driver’. Select your printer model or one close to your model. Depending upon your printer model you will be shown configuration options when you click on the ‘Driver Options’. Make sure you select the correct ‘Paper Size’ here. When done, click on ‘OK’. From the ‘File’ menu, select ‘Save Changes’ and then ‘Restart

lpd’.

From the ‘Test’ menu you can test the configuration by firing some printouts.
