Shoppers Stop is a leading Indian retail store chain with 26 stores across

India. Shoppers Stop has over a million members as part of its retail loyalty

programs from India as well as abroad. It found that a considerable portion of

its members reside where Shoppers Stop doesn't have presence as of now. These

members were only able to shop at Shoppers Stop, whenever they visited any of

the cities where it was present. To target this segment of customers Shoppers

Stop wanted to develop a reliable alternate retail channel, which combines the

convenience of online retailing coupled with customer service. Shopper Stop

created its online shopping portal www.shoppersstop.com which went live in July

2008. Customers from around the world now shop online 24x7 for merchandise

available at Shoppers Stop physical stores, and get the good delievered to 150

cities across India. Shoppers Stop online portal uses Virtual Retailer 4.9

technology provided by Novator India. Portal has a customer facing front end

that can be managed by a combination of data feeds, back end controls and

interface management tool called 'site designer'. Site Catalog, inventory and

loyalty data is maintained using daily data feeds. To boost the site

performance, Shoppers Stop is using Web application service from Akamai. For

e-mail marketing , portal has also been integrated with 'Yes Mail'. They are

also using a web analytics solution called Omniture 'Site Catalyst'.
