New Update

CIMPOR (Cimentos de Portugal SGPS SA is among the top 10 manufacturers of
cement in the world) had acquired Shree Digvijay Cement Company Limited in March
2008. This company has a capacity to produce 1.07 million tonnes of cement per
annum. The challenge for CIMPOR was to separate the configuration, master and
transaction data of SDCCL company code from the combined SAP R/3 4.7 EE instance
of Grasim Industries using the SAP Landscape Optimization Services (SAP SLO) and
with minimum downtime.

The process was not at all easy as previously it was a single backbone
provided by Grasim Industries and shipping out data from a live infrastructure
poses a lot of risk of data loss. CIMPOR hired Intelligroup for the task and
eventually they were able to perform the task without any loss. The biggest
technical challenge in front of the company was to ensuring uninterrupted
connectivity to SAP, as any failure of a link would result in restarting of the
activity which was underway.

And at the same time it was also necessary to make sure that there is no
business downtime for all the other Grasim Group companies in the same SAP
Instance. But eventually SDCCL was able to meet the major legal & business
objectives of a complete separation from the Grasim SAP instance well before the
deadline. As a result, SDCCL users were able to continue with the same SAP
environment, thus reducing the impact of the acquisition on its day-to-day
business. After the completion of the SLO project, the SAP R/3 4.7 EE instance
has been upgraded to SAP ERP 6.0
