As we have been seeing for the past few years, traditional sports has been merging itself with esports. There have been numerous instances of sports teams, athletes and even sports wear companies collaborating with esports. Among them is ONE, which is an MMA organisation in Asia. ONE Championship is giving a tough competition to UFC in the west. And now, it has entered the realm of esports with ONE Esports. ONE Esports will be holding the final Dota 2 major in 2020, the Singapore Major.
This will be the second Dota 2 event that ONE Esports will be hosting. They are currently holding the ongoing ONE Invitational in Singapore, where top tier teams like Vici Gaming and Alliance are competing. The ONE Esports Singapore major will take place from June 20-28 and will be the fifth and last Major of Dota Pro Circuit before TI 10, which takes place in August in Stockholm. The Singapore Major will take place in the Singapore Indoor Stadium. The tournament will have a prize pool of $1 million and 15000 DPC points. The winning team will take home $300,000 and 4,850 DPC points.
Tournament Format
- Participants:
- Fifteen Teams from Regional Qualifiers
- At least two teams from each region
- One team as the champion of DPC Minor
- Group Stage:
- Four GSL groups
- All games are Bo3
- Top two teams advance to the Upper Bracket of the playoffs
- Bottom two teams advance to the Lower Bracket of the playoffs
- Playoffs:
- Double elimination bracket
- First round of the Lower Bracket are Bo1
- All other games are Bo3
- Bo5 Grand Finals
