Gionee Mobile has unleashed its flagship device for this year to Indian consumers which will be available on shelves from end of next month. After initial scepticism, the company claims to have sold 1 million units in the country since its introduction last year. Gionee has been recognized for building top quality devices that exude class and premiumness and with Elife S5.5; the company has continued its tradition.

The Elife S5.5 comes across as the thinnest smartphone in the market with 5.5mm thickness which is equally backed up with highly competent hardware. Elife S5.5 is also the company's first- octa-core powered device and the first-ever non-Samsung company to offer Super AMOLED full HD display. The phone comes in 5 inch form factor and with its 1920x1080 pixels display resolution, it should offer tremendous color output. Packed with 1.7 GHz octa-core chipset, presumably from Mediatek and 2 GB RAM it should be able to walk the talk.

On the camera front, the device gets a 13 MP rear and 8 MP front cameras. The phone is powered by Gionee's customized Android interface called Amigo that has its fair share of fans and detractor. Coming to the crucial part of the phone, it gets a 2300 mAh battery which might prove to be a drawback for a device as powerful as this. The phone comes in 16 GB storage option with no microSD slot that implies no expandable storage and no word on the 32 GB option being available.
