Headquartered in Mumbai and with a farm situated in Pune, Soex Flora has 13
polyhouses with a variety of flowers in a definite ratio. Each polyhouse is a
separate production unit with varying capacities. Every day the polyhouse needs
to focus on maintenance activities, fertilizer and chemical treatments,
appropriate cutting, first level grading and batch number marking. The cut
flowers are then transferred to the post-production process house, where grading
of flowers is carried out after which the flowers are packed and the batch
numbers market, before being refrigerated and dispatched.
The head office releases delivery instructions as per production and delivery
schedules received from its customers who are primarily auction houses and
wholesale buyers. Shipments are also chosen based on realizations made during
previous shipments to various auction houses. At this stage, the customers are
informed on the status. Till recently, Soex Flora's only implementation was
Tally. But it was essential for the company to monitor costs incurred on
cultivation, delegate suitable assignment of export related expenses to the
consignment and track every consignment to its origin. With its ERP deployment,
the company is seeing speedier deliveries and better supply chain management.
