New Update

One of the fastest internal CD-Rewriter we have received till date, it manages to live up to its promise in performance. It even gives good writing speeds and decent throughputs while re-writing. This device boasts of a “turbo boost” feature, which is rather more of an inconvenience. When a 52x CD-R is inserted in the drive, it still shows a writing speed of 40x. The speed can be increased to 52x by keeping the eject button pressed for 5 seconds. According to the manual, this is done in order to have more reliable writing and for support of various media. However, considering that common CD burning software like Nero can automatically detect media speeds, and you can also burn at lower speeds for better reliability, this feature is not really required.

The Samsung drive, with the same specifications (see page 121, PCQuest May 2003) costs a thousand bucks lower.
