With HTC and Samsung doing their honours of launching respective flagship devices for the year, it was not Sony's turn to get the ball rolling and without any doubt the company has managed to please many.

The flagship battle is slowly and gradually forming shape and price seems to be the most crucial differentiator between the likes HTC, Sony and Samsung. Xperia Z2 is an able high-end competitor that ticks all boxes and all this makes for an exciting top rung battle that will depict its clear picture in the coming months.

Talking about Xperia Z2, the phone is reminiscent of the Xperia product line-up with its OmniBalance design philosophy that has been ever present since the introduction Xperia Z smartphone. The Z2 sports a 5.2 inch full HD display with Corning Glass 3 and runs on Android 4.4 KitKat OS. The phone packs the latest quad-core Snapdragon 801 chipset clubbed with a mammoth 3 GB RAM. It comes fitted with the 20.7 MP rear camera that is capable of shooting 4K quality videos and a 2.2 MP front snapper for basic video calling support. Loaded with a 3200 mAh battery, the phone should easily last through more than a day and as most of the Xperia devices, the Z2 is water and dust proof thanks to IP55 and IP58 certification.

The company has made the right moves with Xperia Z2 in the country. Firstly, the pricing makes it slightly cheaper than Samsung Galaxy S5 and at par with HTC One M8. Secondly, Sony has managed to bundle its Smartband device and Smart Cover with the Z2 free of cost which is highly attractive. Sony Xperia Z2 goes available on stores from 12 May onwards which is not that far away from where we stand.
