The problem was that multiple locations were managing their own information security systems. There was no common security policy.

The Solution: The company deployed high-end enterprise grade UTM devices at 10 large locations, which were in turn connected to a central management server at one of the nodal locations. Any device connecting to the network had to be registered into the central database where the Internet privileges for it were automatically fed in. After that, irrespective of where it connected from, it got access based on the assigned privileges.

The Result: The solution considerably improved bandwidth availability to users. It cut down calls to the IT helpdesk for re-configuration of laptop every time a user had to travel. The company can now roll out security policies remotely to all locations from one location.
