New Update

Surecom EP-808BX-F is latest 10/100 Mbps eight-port switch meant for small offices and company departments. The main highlight of this switch is a slot for a single port fiber module. All eight ports of the switch support auto-negotiation of speed and automatically configure themselves for optimum performance. The switch also supports Full- and half-duplex mode operation, which is automatically sensed by the switch itself. Besides the eight ports, there’s an uplink port for cascading it with other switches using a straight cable. You can also do the cascading from any other ports, using a crossover cable.

The switch uses Store-and-forward mode for switching, and allows CRC (Cyclic Redundancy Check) packet checking for error-free packet flowing. Other features include 1 MB buffer memory, and 1K packet-filtering address table. It consumes about 5 watts of power, and plugs directly into the mains without the need for an adpater. It has LEDs on the front bay to indicate the status of devices connected to the switch.

The Bottom Line: The cost of the switch is higher than ordinary 10/100 Mbps switches, due to the optional fiber module.

So if you feel the need for higher bandwidth as your network expands, this is a good choice. The switch comes with one-year warranty.
