Symantec Endpoint Protection 12 - Security Suite

The SEP 12 security suite has the usual anti-virus/spam, and intrusion protection features, along with SONAR, a technology to detect unknown threats using heuristics. Plus, it allows centralized control over what's deployed on all the clients (supports Windows, Linux, and Mac), and set permissions for what users are allowed/not allowed to access.

The software has a Manager component that's used to configure and manage the SEP client version. The SEP Manager installation is a little time consuming, in that you have to configure port settings, administrator user name and password, etc. The whole process took us about 10 minutes. Post that, you can use the Manager to either remotely install the client on all your machines, or create custom installers that can be installed manually. There's even an option to email a link to SEP client. We used the SEP Manager to remotely install the client version, and the whole process went very smoothly. Lastly, you can even generate reports from the SEP Manager on the security status of various client machines. management.
