CMIFPE's Virtualization deployment

The company virtualized their entire data center in Mumbai.

It was a great challange in converting the entire Jing Bang from Physical to

virtual. Initially they faced performance issues with SAP and were not

getting the appropriate IOPS. Now they are more stable and secure in terms

of High Availability and Fault Tolerance. The performance is optimised and

there is huge capital & recurring cost savings.

ICICI Bank's Backup Optimisation

ICICI Bank has deployed software products for online storage

management, data backup & recovery, etc. at its data center in Mumbai. The

backup percentage hovered around 80-85% with regular failures for critical

systems and repeated failure for many systems. The project undertaken was to

achieve 99.5% plus backup success percentage and this required daily root

cause analysis of each and every failure and taking immediate corrective

steps. The result was an achievement of over 99.5% back up percentage in

less tan 8 weeks time.

CEAT's TAKE IT FORWARD

Established in 1958, CEAT is a leading tyre manufacturer in

the country. The organization had need of 21 infrastructure servers across

four locations already. The organization decided to re-visit its entire

infrastructure and create a future-ready IT roadmap. As a part of this

process, the company evaluated their platform and messaging along with the

latest virtualization technologies available. The company decided to upgrade

to Microsoft Exchange Server 2010. They managed to curtail expenses and at

the same time, it has also managed to implement the latest and best of the

technologies. This has resulted in a much higher return on investment

compared to either building an in house data centre or outsourcing it to a

hosting company.

UBI Network Expansion

UBI head quartered out of Kolkata, has successfully deployed

Core Banking Solution in more than 800 locations when they realized the need

for a highly available network on an integrated terrestrial and satellite

media combination. They were already using VSATs for remote locations, ATMs

and back up for large sites. UBI has become the first organization to have

opted for a new path breaking technology that will lead to better IT

infrastructure usage, faster network response, better manageability of

devices and commercial savings.

College of Defence Management

College of Defence Management wasn't sure as to how they

could build a robust and scalable IP based system that could replace their

existing telephone copper network to ensure a converged network. Their

existing campus network was vulnerable to environmental as well as external

threats. They have deployed a True Triple Play Solution from Allied Telesis.

Among the benefits they have achieved are single infrastructure for all

services with intelligent service redundancies build in the design, instead

of multiple infra for different services, entire solution on fiber. This is

deployed in Hyderabad

Tata Teleservices' Single Platform, Multiple Benefits

Spread over 70 locations in the country, with over 10,000

employees, TTSL management's primary challenge was ensuring effective

communication and collaboration. There was a clear need for more effective

collaboration within geographically dispersed teams. TTSL had been using

Microsoft Live Communication Server since 2006. This had eased some of the

pain points but a considerable amount of money was still being spent on

travel across the country. We needed a solution with features like chat,

audio, and video conferencing tools, content sharing. We decided to partner

with Wipro Technologies who set up the server infrastructure and rolled out

the solution to the initial set of users. The in-house IT partner Tata

Consultancy Services then took over and deployed the application to the rest

of the company

Installation, Depots, LPG plants, C&F agents etc. to distribute petroleum

products across India. BPCL is having leased line network at main locations

and VSAT connectivity to all 300 locations. Bandwidth demand of locations

has increased manifold due to increase in number of IT Users at locations.

BPCL has implemented Centralized Service Desk(CSD) to provide the service to

all locations from central location at Mumbai. They have also implemented

Multi Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) VPN network to its 181 up country
