Taking Cut-outs With QuarkXPress 7

We all know QuarkXPress is one of the most popular design and layout

software. You can import scanned or digital, high-resolution color images for

high quality offset printing. You can add features such as transparency,

drop-shadow, web functionality, color management, etc to enhance your design and

can also make high-res PDF files that can directly be used for the printing

process. Let's now see how we can take a cut-out of a product.

Most of the times we have images with a color background and normally Quark

designers take their cut-outs in Photoshop or other image editing programs and

placed them in Quark. But for taking the same in Quark, change the clipping path

position to Quark and you are done. Pls note that if you have an image with a

white background, then select the image box and go to >Item >Clipping to open

Modify window. Here, select the 'Clipping' and 'Runaround' menu and change to

'Non white areas'.

Import the image for which you

need to take a cut-out in the picture box. Click on the Benzir picture box

tool and create the path for the area you want to keep
After the selection is complete,

click on the starting point. This will close the path with white color. Open

the color tool window and set the color as none
Copy the first picture box image

and paste it to the second picture box. Use the Content Tool to adjust the

exact placement of the image
Delete the first picture box.

Select the text box and press F5. This will bring the text on top of the

image. You can see the text flowing around the image and not on the image
