It is a PCMCIA card that includes a biometric fingerprint recognition device. It can recognize a user without his typing in the password. To use it, first insert the card in the PCMCIA slot of the notebook. Then, gently press the head of the card and the fingerprint scanner will pop out. Neat, convenient and non cumbersome! It is also available as a USB device, which is a bit cheaper.

The card comes along with Softex Omnipass, which is an authentication software. There are various options available with this software. The fingerprint sensor can be calibrated not only for the administrator but also for other users. The user needs to use a particular finger that is enrolled with a particular user account on the machine in order to access that account. The bundled software also includes a file encrypting software, which can be used to lock your files/folders. Only the user, who encrypted these files, can then decrypt these folders using the fingerprints.

This software gives an option of either using the fingerprint recognition system, or entering the password. If you want to go one step ahead and access the machine using only the fingerprint recognition device, then you need to buy the optional

SecureSuite.
