This company operates in 4 districts in AP in rural environments. Among the
challenges they faced were issues related to network/connectivity, low IT skills
among the end users, poor response times for experts to attend to any issues
because of remote locations, etc.
SCCL legacy system architecture was distributed and there were several platforms
on which applications were developed. Integration between various functions and
various locations was achieved by manual intervention that involved lots of
duplicate data entry. Home grown legacy applications worked in silos and
integration between apps had to be done manually. Lots of duplicate data entry
and paper interactions caused errors. The legacy systems were incapable of
processing data real time in the logistics and financial supply chains. Due to
the nature of business, a lot of employees needed to be transferred from one
location to another and running payroll in a distributed manner at each location
lead to errors and had to be manually corrected.
It was essential to have a robust integrated ERP solution. Keeping in view the
immediate needs of SCCL, SAP-ERP has been implemented pertaining to logistics,
FICO,HCM-Payroll, etc. Some of the benefits are: availability/visibility of
information on real time basis on the desks of the SAP users for effective
decision support system, changes/reduction in cycle times of various processes,
early warning systems & system alerts, etc.
