Total Score:
247The Epson EPL-N2010 comes
in two versions–networked and non-networked–the only difference
being a network adapter. We reviewed the networked model. It was
also the only printer in the group capable of printing on A3 size
paper. In the speed tests its performance was quite good, except in
the test to print a full-page (A4) monochrome graphics, where it
took 26 seconds, which is slightly long for a 20+ ppm printer.
Quality wise, the story is somewhat different. The full-page
monochrome graphics was a bit too dark, and fountain fills had
visible banding. Thin lines and curves were not sharp and
smooth.
Again, installation was hassle-free. However, we had to
manually install the network card that came in a separate box with
the printer. The remaining procedure was the same as in the case of
the Epson EPL-N2050.
The printer ships with 8 MB
RAM, and can be upgraded to a maximum of 256 MB. It can take both
normal SDRAM and its own proprietary modules. Other options include
a 250-sheet lower paper cassette unit and a 500-sheet lower paper
cassette unit. The price of the toner cartridge per 1,000 pages is
Rs 855.
It has good printing speeds but could
improve on quality. Compared to other 20-ppm printers, it’s priced
higher.
