The MySQL HeatWave is a game-changer in the evolving tech landscape, enabling developers to stay ahead by incorporating Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and low code-no code platforms.

In a dynamic tech landscape, developers face the challenge of staying ahead in an environment constantly shaped by emerging technologies. Palanivel Saravanan, VP of Cloud Engineering at Oracle, shares insights on the pivotal trends that developers should keep a keen eye on.

The Future of Software Development

The future of software development is poised to be significantly influenced by several key technologies. We're already witnessing the integration of AIand MLinto software development, making applications smarter and more autonomous. The demand for low-code/no-code platforms is on the rise, with industry estimates suggesting that 65% of application development will be carried out through low-code/no-code methods by 2024.

DevOps and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) are continually evolving, necessitating developers to stay updated to remain relevant in a dynamic and complex environment. Both developers and DBAs require a system that can scale, load, and process their systems efficiently, without any interruption to the workload, whether for a minute, an hour, or a day. Staying current on emerging cybersecurity technologies is vital, given the evolving nature of cyber threats. These technologies will shape the future of software development by automating tasks, enhancing user experiences, improving security, and enabling innovative applications. Developers who adapt to these changes will thrive in the evolving tech landscape.

Advancements in Data Handling

Data has become a significant aspect of modern businesses. In recent years, cloud databases have undergone substantial evolution, offering enhanced scalability, security, and performance. These solutions have become more reliable and efficient. Increased scalability in cloud databases allows businesses to easily adapt resources to changing workloads, a crucial flexibility in today's dynamic environment. There is a growing interest in running workloads not only in the cloud but also across different clouds. Relying on a single cloud infrastructure provider is neither wise nor practical. Oracle enables customers to deploy the same cloud services on-premises, in their public cloud, or a combination of both, facilitating a multicloud strategy. MySQL HeatWave, available natively on AWS, brings its benefits to a broader customer base.

Innovative Features of MySQL HeatWave Lakehouse

During the recent Oracle CloudWorld event in Las Vegas, we unveiled significant enhancements to MySQL HeatWave, addressing the evolving needs of our customers. These updates include advanced features such as support for a vector store, generative AI, in-database ML capabilities, improvements to MySQL Autopilot, new HeatWave Lakehouse functionalities, JavaScript support, accelerated JSON query capabilities, and the introduction of new analytic operators. The vector store, currently in private preview, empowers customers to leverage large language models (LLMs) with their proprietary data, ensuring more accurate insights compared to models trained solely on public data. With generative AI and vector store features, users can interact with MySQL HeatWave in natural language and efficiently search documents in various file formats within HeatWave Lakehouse.

These enhancements are crucial in addressing customer data, analytics, and AI requirements. MySQL HeatWave has already brought real-time analytics, automated ML, lakehouse capabilities, and multicloud support to the industry. With the addition of the vector store and generative AI, it brings the power of LLMs to customers, offering a user-friendly approach to interact with enterprise data and obtain precise answers for their business needs. MySQL HeatWave's in-database ML ensures a seamless process with an automated model training pipeline, eliminating the need to transfer data to an external ML service. MySQL Autopilot, an integrated feature of MySQL HeatWave, provides ML-based automation for various database operations, easing the burden for developers and DBAs.

Performance and Scalability in India with MySQL HeatWave Lakehouse

The additional capabilities incorporated into MySQL HeatWave facilitate analytics, transaction processing, ML, and generative AI for a diverse range of data types and sources. Strong customer relationships in India have resulted in impressive outcomes with MySQL HeatWave. For example, Noorisys Technologies, during its expansion, needed an enterprise-grade database solution. Although their primary application was initially built on MySQL Database Community Edition, they sought a cloud-based solution for scalable service delivery. By upgrading to MySQL HeatWave on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), Noorisys harnessed the benefits of always-on security, fast performance, on-demand scalability, and high availability. This strategic move allowed them to expand their services globally, providing secure and cost-effective data management and storage services to their customers. Similar success stories are prevalent within our partner ecosystem in India, where MySQL HeatWave has empowered businesses to scale, enhance agility, improve efficiency, and achieve substantial growth.

CGTSME, established by the Indian government in collaboration with MSME and the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), is utilizing MySQL HeatWave in India for loan management. Loans that previously took two weeks to disburse are now processed and paid in real-time. With the adoption of Oracle Cloud, CGTSME has seen 56% growth in the first year, increasing their revenue from ₹36,000 crore to ₹56,000 crore. In the second year, it surged from ₹56,000 crore to ₹101,000 crore and ₹4,000 crore.

For customers looking to perform analytics, transaction processing, ML, and generative AI across a variety of data types and sources, the additional capabilities of MySQL HeatWave—for both MySQL-compatible and non-MySQL workloads—will enable them to address their needs.
