The Solution: In order to overcome the impossible workload, UP Transport, with the technical support of National Informatics Centre (NIC) has implemented a new system of online recording through two softwares- Vahan and Sarathi.

Vahan stores all crucial data about the vehicle owner and the payment of tax and technical specification in the Computerised Registration Certificate in a much-secured environment, and is easily accessible to the officials. Vahan is available at 73 locations of the state and all the offices are connected to State Data Centre through 512 kbps VPN.

The Result: Vahan has replaced all hand-written paper documents with the computer generated ones and has enhanced the productivity of transport officials, who now finish their job within two to three hours. Keeping a check on revenue leakage is easier nowadays and has seen a rise in collection of revenue by 7-10%.
