New Update

If you think your vendor charges too much for small hardware upgrades on your PC and you think you could do them yourself, then this book is a must read for you. It’s not one of those books with scores of technical details that bog you down; rather, it’s a guide that teaches you to replace, repair and upgrade different components of your machine. The book is up to date and covers the latest in hardware.

The book is well structured and well illustrated with photographs showing the details of components and the anatomy of a PC’s case. Chapters in the book are well structured and talk about the fundamentals and the working of components on the motherboard. In fact, a full chapter is dedicated to each component. A chapter titled ‘Shopping for PC Parts’ gives a good idea of how to build your dream machine yourself. Last few chapters talk about the troubleshooting part, such as common errors and solutions. The appendix decodes the different error numeric codes and text messages. The book has flowcharts for troubleshooting and a detailed glossary.

Since the book is a reprint of the US edition, it gives the prices of the US market.

To sum up, this book is must read for those looking for expert advice before buying a PC and those wanting to keep their machines up to date and running.
