Canonical conducted a successful inaugural Ubuntu Developer Day in Bangalore on January 27, 2011. Presentations were given on Ubuntu, Ubuntu uTouch and Ubuntu Enterprise Cloud, as well as demonstrations on Ubuntu Netbook Edition, Ubuntu Light and Ubuntu 10.10.

Also presenting were partners and customers to Canonical including IBM, Freescale and Marvell. The attendees were from a variety of backgrounds including engineers, developers and journalists. Marvell and Freescale both highlighted their silicon with demos running Ubuntu at Ubuntu Developer Day.

“We were very pleased with the interaction at the event and the opportunity to update this very important audience for Ubuntu” said Jon Melamut, VP Product and Sales, OEM Services, Canonical.

“We were expecting around 200 people so to get at least a 50% increase on our forecast shows the popularity of Ubuntu and working with Canonical in a key country for us like India with its huge potential for users and developers on open platforms,” added Jon Melamut.
