New Update

Due to the absence of integration of satellite and terrestrial network, UBI
had to provide two separate components -router & IDU in their branches. This led
to two separate points of failures and also they had to rely on HUB service
provider for configuring VSAT.

Advertisment

So it was decided to integrate the satellite with terrestrial network for which
Cisco VSAT NM card was chosen. A total of 393 sites were commissioned with the
NM-1VSAT-GILAT network module in primary and backup. The VSAT Network module was
installed in Cisco 2811 router which had the provision for inserting the module.
The network module fitted pre configured router was shipped to the sites. The
engineer was instructed for the connections to be made and as the router was
preconfigured, the site was connected effortlessly. The main advantage was
password based access in Gilat card over IDU based VSAT.
