New Update

Are you tired of carrying floppies or burning CDs every time you need to carry some important data? The problem with floppies is that they store only a measly 1.44 MB of data. CDs are okay if you’re carrying data that doesn’t need to be modified. But what if you need to carry lots of documents around with you? That’s where a new genre of portable memory devices come in, and the Pen drive is one such example.

This device is hidden inside the body of a ball-point pen. So you can clip it to your shirt when on the move, use its pen to write, or just unscrew the rear to pull out the memory for copying/removing files from it. It can store up to 64 MB of data, and simply plugs into a vacant USB port on your PC. If you’re using Windows 2000, then the drive will be automatically recognized and a wizard will guide you through the installation. Under XP, even that’s not required. Simply plug it in and it’s ready for use. If you’re on Windows 98SE, then you’ll need to install the drivers that accompany the drive. Once installed, it looks like any other ordinary drive on your computer. Access it from My Computer, and use it like an ordinary hard drive. It takes between one and half to two minutes if you transfer data near the drive’s capacity of 64 MB.

The drive is pretty useful and convenient to use. A slight problem though is that the screw threads of the pen for the drive are too thin, making it a little inconvenient to place the drive back inside the pen. Lastly, at 2,500, it’s a very good buy, if you don’t have the tendency of loosing pens frequently.
