The problem in front of the organization was to capture the knowledge
residing in their associates' mailboxes. desktops/laptops, file servers,
disparate systems etc, which was making it impossible to retrieve and use the
data when required.
Once the owner of some crucial data leaves the organization the new employees
had a difficult time getting up-to-speed on their teams. And as a result the
information was cluttered, inconsistent and undependable.
From an IT team's standpoint, information archival in this kind of a
situation is near impossible and the company ended up spending a great deal of
money on information retention mechanisms. On the other hand the UST Global has
presence in over 8 countries, which made it very important to collaborate and
share information in a real-time manner.
And to resolve all these issues, an intranet portal using SharePoint is
deployed. And the name given to this deployment was Kubera. The benefit of the
deployment of this project can be measured by a simple statement made by the CEO
of the company, who said: “My productivity has gone up by 30% by using Kubera”.

This by itself is a great testimony for the effort. Not only the project
helped the company to retain and index and retrieve their data in a much
organized manner but also made it possible for the globally spanned company to
collaborate and share information in a much sophisticated manner.
