Similar to the previous My Passport 1TB drive, this also includes WD SmartWare software, to take automatic backups and restore data. With just 200 grams to carry, you can easily keep this drive in your pocket. We tested it by transferring data between the drive and our PC through both USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 interfaces. The time taken by it to copy 10 GB data through USB 2.0 is 8 min 35 sec, which is a minute more than that of the other drive reviewed here, the Freecom Tough Drive. But when we transferred the same data via USB 3.0 interface the time taken reduced to 2 min 28 seconds which is not only one-third of the time it has taken through the USB 2.0 interface but also a minute less than that taken by the Freecom TOUGH Drive. On running HD tune benchmark on it, the maximum data transferred was 29.4 MB/s and 88.2 MB/s from USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 interfaces respectively, which is quite average.

Bottomline: A good performer which is also competitively priced.
