This is a multilingual office suite that consists of a word processor, spreadsheet and a Web browser. It supports English, Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, and Tamil and has a simple installation. The Windik Word Editor 1.0 has a user-friendly interface with ‘OTF’ (On The Fly) help, which displays key combinations of the keyboard for obtaining the language characters you want. For instance, if a user wants to type “aa” the OTF help displays “aa” along with the lingual character at the bottom of the application. This not only acts as an online manual while typing, but also improves the typing speed considerably. Interface language and typing language can be set separately. This editor also includes a dictionary and a spellchecker, but only for Hindi. Some predefined templates are also available for creating wedding invitations and official letters but support only Hindi and English. There’s a neat conversion tool wherein a user has to type the text in English that sounds verbally like the one in a certain language and the text automatically gets converted. It works very well. The Windik Spreadsheet interface looks very similar to MS-Excel. Besides the usual features, it has the ability to express monetary values in rupees. Interestingly, it can convert a given number in words in any of the supported languages. The spreadsheet also has a spellchecker with a Hindi dictionary. The Webdunia Browser 1.0 supports English, Hindi, Gujrati and Tamil only. The text that appears in the menu bar and browser interface can be made to appear in any of these languages.
