Western Digital Announces WD TV — Personal Edition at Rs 7,999

Western Digital is looking to expand is media streaming segment and after introducing WD TV Live media player, the company now announces WD TV - Personal Edition. The new device is Wi-Fi enabled and can be connected with any TV via HDMI cable, USB storage and over Wi-Fi network.

If you take a closer look at this TV device, it looks strikingly similar to WD TV Live, however WD TV PE has something extra for users. The device supports a wide range of personal media such as photos, video and music by supporting several file formats, such as AVI, MP4, MKV, WMV, MOV, etc.

It also allows streaming content from personal cloud and network attached storage (NAS) drives like WD's My Cloud product family, digital camcorder or cameras, and any networked PC or Mac computer in the home.

In addition to that, the WD TV - Personal Edition supports Miracast that allows users to project their Miracast-enabled mobile device onto their TV in up to Full HD 1080p resolution. As well as it supports apps including YouTube, Facebook, VUDU, SlingPlayer, Hulu Plus, Spotify and Pandora, may some of the apps not work in India. It will be available across the country from August onwards, priced at Rs 7,999.
