Western Digital Caviar WD1200

A big 120GB PATA drive to satisfy your big space needs. We checked out the drive with the same specs as the WD Raptor.

The drive gave decent results considering its cost. The Business Winstone and Content Creation Winstone results are quite decent at 70 and 112. The transfer rates of the disk started at 58,860 KBps and ended at 33,900 KBps, which is also very good. The drive performed much better than the 2MB cache buffer drive of Samsung, that comes around the same cost, but lagged a bit when compared to the other 8 MB cache buffer drives. The drives gives a transfer rate of 12,000 KBps in the Business disk Winmark and 40,600 KBps in the High-end Disk
Winmark.

At around 6.75K plus taxes and a three-year warranty, it is a nice bargain for the SOHO user at Rs 56 per GB.
