New Update

It is often difficult to write about external features of an internal HDD but it seems VelociRaptor is an exception. VelociRaptor features a 2.5" drive mounted on a 3.5"heat sink which gives this drive a distinct look. Now the reason behind a dedicated cooling area is the speed at which it rotates. The drive features an RPM of 10,000, which is higher than the RPM of 7,400 found in most commercial

drives. A higher RPM means that performance of this drive is much higher than any other HDD, in fact in our tests we found that this drive gave average transfer speeds of 166 MB/s in HD Tune 2.55 benchmark on a SATA 6 Gbps interface. This score is higher than Deskstar 7K4000's score of 151 MB/s we reviewed in last issue. The higher score also puts this drive above conventional drives and below SSDs, so if you want a high capacity and a high performing drive but do not want to spend huge amount on an SSD, then this could be a good option.

It comes with a 5 year warranty uses Advance Format technology which enables a more reliable and high density storage area. The VelociRaptor also features NpTouch ramp load technology which means that the recording head never

touches the disk media ensuring significantly less wear to the recording head and media as well as better drive protection in transit.
