WhatsApp has announced the Call Links feature, today. The new feature will make it easy for people to invite people on audio or video calls just by creating and sharing the link. The link will enable people to join that call by just clicking or tapping the shared link.
Like Zoom or Google Meet, Facebook is also providing its users with the comfort of joining a call with their friends or family by quickly tapping on the shared call link. The call link feature will enable the users to call any other WhatsApp user who is not in their WhatsApp contact list, and this definitely serves as the unique selling proposition for the new feature.
WhatsApp Call Links will definitely be the easiest way to join, as you just need a single click to make it work. Of course, a call link is nothing new in the grand scheme of things but WhatsApp is easy to use when it comes to the user friendly. With a single tap on the call link, all the invited people can instantly join in calls without facing any hassle in joining.
WhatsApp will provide the users with an option to create a video link under the calls tab. This link can then be shared with other users who need to join that call. If the link goes to a call participant who is not a WhatsApp user, that particular participant will be redirected to download the app.
"Excited to introduce Call Links on @WhatsApp so you can easily start or join a call using just a link. Available for both audio and video calls starting this week,” Cathcart said in his Tweet.
Call Links are currently in the process of rolling out, and the rollout might take a few days - or even the entire week, according to Mark Zuckerberg.
He also revealed that WhatsApp's developer team is currently testing secure encrypted video calling for up to 32 people, with more about this promised to be revealed soon.
