A new private 'Chat Lock' feature for the well-known messaging service WhatsApp has been unveiled by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Users may add an extra degree of protection to their interactions thanks to the new functionality.

When you lock a conversation, the thread is removed from your inbox and placed in a secure folder that only you and your device's password or biometric, such as your fingerprint, can open. Additionally, it immediately conceals the conversation's content from alerts.

The well-known messaging service said in a blog post that it was "excited to bring to you a new feature we're calling Chat Lock, which lets you protect your most private conversations behind one more layer of security."

How to use WhatsApp's Chat Lock feature

When you lock a chat, it moves from the inbox to a separate folder that can only be accessed with your device's password or biometric, like a fingerprint. Additionally, it conceals the chat's contents in notifications automatically.

Meanwhile, a broadcast channel discussion for Android users is now being developed by Meta-owned WhatsApp and will include 12 new capabilities. According to WABetaInfo, a future version of the app will include a beta test for the function, which is presently being developed.
