Starting 31 December 2022, WhatsApp will cease functioning on several outdated iPhone models and 49 Android handsets. This will affect iPhone users running iOS 11 and older and Android users running Android OS 4. Essentially, the devices will have to either upgrade their operating systems to whatever newer edition is available or migrate to a new smartphone or an OS that is still compatible.
According to WhatsApp, the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5c are among the old devices. As of today, iPhone 5s and subsequent models are safe from the end of support since they may be upgraded to newer versions of iOS, which are still supported by messenger.

Notably, most of the phones on the list are already outdated models that are hardly used. If you still have one of these phones, consider upgrading. Get a new device with cutting-edge technology to get the most out of WhatsApp. Without updates, WhatsApp becomes exposed to hacking and security risks. As a result, it is always essential to update apps regularly.
