Silver colored and sleek, Wipro’s LittleGenius is a new entrant into the laptop market. Amidst a variety of notebooks out there, it tries to stand apart with its pricing. Though definitely not the lowest, its pricing is quite attractive considering its features and specifications. The LittleGenius comes in two flavors–LG 1000 and LG 3000. The 1000 is a Celeron-based model, that supports clock speeds up to 900 MHz and is available for Rs 67,000. While the 3000 is a PIII one with speeds of up to 1 GHz, and is priced at about Rs 76,000.

You can choose between a 10 or 20 GB hard disk. The display is a 13.3” active matrix TFT screen that supports a resolution of up to 1024x768 pixels. For graphics there’s a 2X AGP and 3 D graphics accelerator. VRAM is shared. There are two PCMCIA Type II slots. The 24X CD-ROM drive and floppy-disk drive make up one drive. There’s an onboard modem and network support. For audio there’s a 16-bit SoundBlaster card, with built-in stereo speakers and

mic. You can also play the CD even with the system off. You get all the regular ports here; no USB or Firewire though. 

You can choose to have Win 98, Me, 2000 or XP installed. Weighing 3 kg, the laptop has a touchpad as a pointing device. This touchpad is smooth to use and can also be configured to suit your tasks. The notebook has a battery life of 3.5 hours with the power-management feature switched on.

The notebook is meant for young executives on the move. It comes with two bags–one to carry it around daily and one for overnight trips.
