Wipro Technologies : Collaboration Simplified

New Update

In September last year, Wipro embarked on a mission to solve one of the most

typical problems faced by large corporations whose teams are spread across the

globe -collaboration. Aimed at meeting the critical business requirements like

web conferencing with customers, partners, internal teams, instant messaging

with team members across different regions and from Internet, sharing of

resources in a secured way, the project integrated Microsoft's Live Meeting,

Live Communication Server with Federation & SharePoint portal.

The most obvious challenge here was creating user awareness for this new

service. Plus, rolling out clients on all user desktops and laptops without

having any business impact on the users had to be ensured along with smooth

migration of existing users to the new system, who were earlier using

independent third party tools. Technically, the biggest challege was product

specifications, which did not initially allow room for scaling up. Since Wipro's

internal user and client base runs into lakhs, the system had to be personalized

to handle bigger traffic as well as simultaneous and multiple usage at any given

point of time. This was a far better option than updating information and

continuously monitoring status through an SQL server.
