AMD has been getting the better of Intel for quite some time now. The competition has been fierce and AMD seems to be winning it by a hairline margin. The Intel vs AMD debate has been on forever, and both companies are in a constant mode of coming out with the best they can. Keeping all of this in mind, there are multiple other factors that make a good processor, especially in the Indian market. There are a few reasons that you need to know before choosing to go with an AMD processor. Is it wise to buy AMD processors in mid-2021?

To start with, the price. The Indian market is highly driven by price. It is a price-centric market. Currently, the prices of AMD processors are going through the roof. To quote an example, the AMD Ryzen 5 3600 used to be sold for INR 15-16K. This was a justified price for the performance it delivered. However, if you look at it now, the processor is being sold for INR 24-25K. This is clear overpricing. The performance of the CPU does not justify this price. If we talk about Ryzen APUs, the case is no different. The Ryzen 3 3200G used to be available for around INR 8K, but is now available for INR 12-13K.

This is one of the major reasons why it is not a good choice to go for an AMD processor. If you are looking for something around the price range of INR 10K, then going for the Intel Core i3 10100F would be a better option. It comes with 4 cores and 8 threads and delivers a good performance for its price. The only competition that is CPU currently has is the AMD Ryzen 3 3100. That CPU used to sell for the same price and delivered similar performance, but is currently unavailable in the market. Even if your budget is INR 15K, Intel is still the better option to go for. The Intel Core i5 10400F is the best bet in this price range.

It comes with hyperthreading enabled and also beats the Ryzen 3 3600 in some games. Not to mention, the Ryzen CPU is priced at INR 25k at the moment and the Intel CPU costs around INR 15K. This should be a valid point of consideration for all the AMD fanboys out there. If your budget lies around the INR 17-18K mark, even then the better bet would be Intel. The latest Intel Core i5 11th gen processor is selling for a price range of INR 17-18K. It delivers better performance and value than the Ryzen 3 3600, which, by the way, is still priced higher than the 11th Gen Intel CPU.

In conclusion, it can be said that it is not a wise decision to buy AMD processors in mid-2021. Keeping all the love and admiration for AMD aside, its time that we, the fanboys, open our eyes to reality.
